Your data, your questions.

This is Clearo’s privacy policy, written as the questions people actually ask us. Short answer first, details after.

Clearo: AI Photo CleanerBy CONTRUCTION AND INVESTMENT JSCEffective: September 2026

“We” means CONTRUCTION AND INVESTMENT JSC, the company behind Clearo: AI Photo Cleaner (“Clearo”). “You” means you, the person using it.

01Your photos & files

Do you upload my photos, videos or files?

No. Clearo looks at your media and files right on your phone to find duplicates, blurry shots and space hogs. None of it is sent to us.

What about my contacts and calendar?

Same deal. Clearo reads them on your phone to spot repeated or half-empty contacts and old events. Nothing is sent to a Clearo server.

Where do my contacts backups go?

Your phone, and your Google Drive if you connect it. Nowhere else. We don’t share backups with anyone.

Can Clearo delete something without asking?

No. You pick what goes. Removed items land in Clearo’s trash first, so you can still bring them back.

02Vault

What happens when I hide something in Vault?

It gets encrypted and locked away. Clearo saves an encrypted copy of the photo, video or contact, plus an encrypted thumbnail, in its own private storage on your phone. Your gallery and other apps can’t see it.

Is the original deleted?

Only if you say so. After hiding, Clearo asks whether to remove the original from your gallery or Contacts app. If you don’t confirm, it stays.

Does anything in Vault leave my phone?

No. Vault items aren’t uploaded to us, aren’t part of your Google Drive contacts backup, are excluded from Android cloud backup, and aren’t given to any partner listed below.

How does the PIN protect it?

The PIN guards the key. Everything is encrypted on your phone before it’s saved. When you set a PIN, the key that opens Vault is protected by it, and too many wrong guesses in a row lock Vault for a while. We never receive your PIN.

What if I forget my PIN?

We can’t help, and that’s by design. We have no way to reset it. Forgetting the PIN, uninstalling Clearo or clearing its storage makes hidden items gone for good, for you and for us.

Do you track what I hide?

Only that it happened. Our analytics may count that you hid or unhid items and how many. What those items are, or what’s in them, is never collected.

Can I take things back out?

Yes, any time. Unhide items to put them back in your gallery or address book, or delete them from Vault permanently.

03Google account & Drive

Do I have to sign in with Google?

No. Google is used for exactly one optional feature: saving your contacts backup to Google Drive and restoring it later.

Can Clearo see everything in my Drive?

No. We ask for a single scope, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. It only opens files Clearo created itself. Your other documents, photos and files in Drive can’t be seen, listed or changed by the app.

What do you use that access for?

Backup and restore, nothing more. Clearo uploads your contacts backup to your Drive and downloads it when you ask to restore.

Do you keep a copy of my backup or my Google data?

No. Backups stay in your own Google Drive. We never copy them to our servers, we can’t read them, and we don’t store your Google account data on our systems.

Do you sell it, use it for ads, or train AI on it?

No, no and no. Google user data is never sold, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising or ad targeting, never used for credit checks or data brokering, and never used to train general-purpose AI or machine-learning models.

How long does my backup stay, and how do I cut access?

Until you delete it. From the Contacts Backup screen you can delete a backup and disconnect your Google account whenever you want. You can also revoke Clearo on your Google Account permissions page, which ends its Drive access immediately.

Clearo’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

04Permissions

Why does Clearo ask for so many permissions?

Each one unlocks one feature. Say no to any of them and only that feature stops working; the rest of the app carries on. Here’s the full list and why each exists.

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONSSo we can tell you when a backup, restore or other background task is done, and share important app news.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGEOlder Android only. Lets Clearo read your photos, videos and files to find what’s eating space and let you pick items for Vault.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGEOlder Android only. Lets Clearo move what you selected to its Trash, delete it, or put it back when you restore.
  • MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGEAll files access. Clearo is a storage cleaner, so this is its core. It lets the app scan your whole storage and act on what you choose: moving photos and videos in and out of Vault, and handling documents, archives, installers and other files that normal media permissions can’t reach. You turn it on yourself in Android settings and can turn it off there any time.
  • READ_CALENDARTo find past events you probably don’t need and show them to you.
  • WRITE_CALENDARTo delete the events you picked. Only those.
  • READ_CONTACTSTo find duplicate or incomplete contacts, make your backup, and let you choose contacts to hide in Vault.
  • WRITE_CONTACTSTo merge or delete the contacts you picked, save your edits, and add contacts back when you restore a backup or unhide them.
  • INTERNETTo show ads, load remote settings, send crash reports, measure installs and usage, process purchases, and move your backup to and from Google Drive.
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATETo check you’re online, and on what kind of connection, so we don’t start a transfer that would fail and can pause one if the signal drops.

Google Play lists permissions that aren’t here. Why?

They come from libraries, not from Clearo. The ads, analytics, billing and background-task libraries inside the app add a few on their own, such as advertising ID, Wi-Fi state, vibration, wake lock, install referrer, billing and phone state.

So can Clearo read my calls or phone number?

No. Clearo doesn’t read your phone number, IMEI, call log or call state, and it can’t make calls.

05Ads, analytics & partners

Who else gets data from the app?

A handful of partners that keep Clearo running. Each may collect limited data under its own privacy policy:

  • Google Play Services
  • AdMob — shows and measures ads; may receive device identifiers such as Android ID.
  • Google Analytics for Firebase — usage analytics; may receive app list signals, network status, device model, runtime logs and identifiers.
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports.
  • Mintegral, Meta SDK (Facebook), Pangle, Unity Ads / AppLovin — ad networks and mediation.

Do any of them get my Google Drive data?

No. Nothing obtained from Google Drive goes to these partners, and Drive data is never used for ads or analytics.

What device information do you collect?

Identifiers like the Android ID. We use them for security, analytics and fraud prevention: keeping sessions unique and catching suspicious activity. We don’t sell personally identifiable information or hand it to advertisers, and we treat it according to applicable privacy laws.

What happens when the app crashes?

Diagnostics may be sent so we can fix it. Third-party tools can record things like IP address, device name, OS version, the app’s settings at the time, date and time, and other technical stats.

Does Clearo use cookies?

Not itself. Partner libraries may use cookies or similar tech for their services. You can accept or refuse them in your device or app settings, though refusing may limit some features.

Do you use other contractors?

Sometimes. We may bring in companies or people to help run, deliver or analyse the service. They only get personal information to do that job and may not share it or use it for anything else.

06Staying in control

How do I switch things off?

  • A permission: turn off all files access, calendar or contacts in device settings. Only that feature stops.
  • Google Drive: disconnect on the Contacts Backup screen, or revoke it on your Google Account permissions page.
  • Personalised ads: use your device’s Ads Personalization setting.

How do I delete my data?

  • Backups: delete them in the app, or delete the copies straight from Google Drive.
  • Vault: unhide or permanently delete items whenever you like.
  • Everything else: apart from support emails you send us, Clearo’s data and caches live on your phone. Clear the app’s storage in system settings or uninstall it.

Can I find out what you have about me?

Yes. Email us and we’ll explain what we collect and how it’s processed, and correct it if needed.

Is it safe?

We work at it. We use commercially reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, though, so be careful with sensitive information.

07The fine print

Is Clearo for kids?

No. It isn’t aimed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you’re a parent or guardian and think your child gave us information, or we learn we collected it without parental consent, we’ll delete it.

I live in California. Do you sell my data?

No. We don’t sell personal information for commercial purposes. Some ad and analytics partners use technology that could count as a “sale” under the CCPA. To opt out of that and of interest-based ads, turn off ads personalization in your device settings.

Does Clearo honour “Do Not Track”?

There’s nothing to honour. Clearo doesn’t track you across other websites. Third-party sites or SDKs may follow their own rules, which you can limit in your browser or device settings.

Will this policy change?

Possibly. We’ll post the new version here with a new date and, where it makes sense, let you know in the app or by email. If we ever change how Clearo uses Google user data, you’ll hear about it before the change takes effect.

Who do I talk to?

Us, directly. Email constructionninvestment.jsc@gmail.com with any question or data request.

By installing or using Clearo you confirm you’ve read and accept this policy. If you don’t, please don’t use the app.
